    Emily Cox is a versatile performer who has been seen across the nation in musical theatre, cabaret, opera and solo orchestral works. Her numerous roles in opera include Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, the Beggar Woman in Sweeney Todd, Berta in "Il barbiere di Seville", Marian Paroo in "The Music Man", Despina in the Greeley Philharmonic's production of Cosi fan tutte,  Alida Slade in Roman Fever, Tanya in "Mamma Mia!", Nella in Gianni Schicci, Isabel in  Pirates of Penzance, Cinderella in "Into the Woods", and Marianne in Tartuffe.  In 2014, Ms. Cox made her Chicago debut in correlation with the Chicago Summer Opera Series.
     
    Since that time, Ms. Cox has established herself as an active performer in the Chicagoland area. She is a Teaching Artist with the Chicago Opera Theater Educational Outreach program, entitled Chicago Opera Theater for Teens. Ms. Cox is also the soprano resident artist with Chicago Opera Playhouse for the 2016/17 season. Other Chicagoland credits include the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company, the "D:Activate" concert series in correlation with the City of Chicago, the Chicago Folks Operetta, Music for Theatre Chicago, Petite Opera, Main Street Opera,  Devonshire Playhouse, Opera Book Club, Davenport Piano Bar, Classical Revolution, the Floating Opera Company, and NONOpera. Directing credits include BRAVO Arts Academy, Ovation Arts Academy, Chicago Opera Theater for Teens, Opera Ouvert and Davenport's Piano Bar. Ms Cox will be celebrating the 40th Anniversary Season of the Chicago Choral Artists as a returning artist, and is an active member of the Chicago Chapter of Opera on Tap.

    An enthusiastic supporter of new music, Emily was deeply involved in the world premiere of Colorado composer Previn Hudetz's opera Salem: 1692, in correlation with the Fort Collins Art Commission and the Bas Bleu Theater. Ms Cox directed, produced and starred as Margaret Scott in this production, and was deeply honored to be a part of it. Currently, Ms. Cox is working in conjunction with local composer Christopher Preissing and NONOpera in a the world premiere of his immersive opera project, "Thunder, Perfect Mind", as well as an audiobook project entitled "In Search of Marietta Black".  This summer, Ms Cox is acting as Music Producer for the Summer Music Series with Scapigliatura Magazine; the series will feature twenty-two individual concerts across the Chicagoland area, several of which will act as world premieres of newly-composed works.
    
    Ms. Cox holds a Masters of Music from the University of Northern Colorado and Bachelor of Music Performance from the University of Evansville; she graduated from both establishments with honors. She is currently a student of Mrs Maria Lagios.
